What did the end of 'A Perfect Murder' mean?

I watched the whole movie... but at the end of the movie I had no clue wtf happened. They show Gwyneth at the police station after she kills her husband and the cop says something like... so it was self defense.. and then it ends. What does it mean? What is the twist ..or is there a twist?
